Recommendations strive to place a student where he/she will have the most success
A student who exhibits the following academic skills will be recommended for College Prep Level 1:
- often does not bring all necessary materials to class
- requires teacher support to meet academic deadlines
- requires teacher-driven planning and organization for assignments
- benefits from concrete academic instruction with manageable deadlines
- benefits from in-class structure and work time
- benefits from support to prepare for assessments
- is still developing grade-level academic skills
- may need redirection to stay on task and struggles with independent work
A student who exhibits the following academic skills will be recommended for College Prep Level 2:
- usually brings all necessary materials to class
- meets most academic deadlines
- is independently able to plan and organize assignments and work
- sometimes asks for help
- is often able to independently prepare for assessment
- has mastered grade-level content skills but may still struggle with application
- has mastered grade-level literacy skills
- is learning how to apply learned concepts to new situations
- is often able to stay on task and work independently
A student who exhibits the following academic skills will be recommended for Honors:
- is consistently prepared for class
- meets all academic deadlines
- is able to manage his/her time and multiple assignments simultaneously
- asks for help when needed
- is consistently prepared for assessments
- has moved beyond grade-level literacy skills
- excels at independent work
- is self directed, highly motivated and seeks academic challenges
- turns in quality work that exceeds grade-level expectations
